Green IT: Fujitsu Siemens Notebooks Green Track

Fujitsu Siemens Computers, confirming its role as innovator in the field of environment and energy saving, has made a mark "Green IT" for their products. The new logo will allow customers to easily identify the devices made with eco-compatible technologies.
The mark "Green IT" allows for the rapid product performance in terms of energy efficiency and environmental impact during the entire life cycle, from production stage through to recycling, according to a set of rigid criteria. In addition, the label Green IT is a benchmark for internal Fujitsu Siemens Computers, for a continuous improvement in the development of eco-systems.
Giuseppe Magni, Marketing Director of Fujitsu Siemens Computers, commented the news: "With the development and introduction of this new independent system of identification of Green IT, we have raised the level of our commitment to the environment. After two decades of success in technological innovations eco-compatible, the company has a new ambition, to make further improvements. The brand new "Green IT" confirms our desire to have a leading role among IT providers in terms of processes and environmentally friendly technologies, and demonstrates the commitment of the development of a computer."
The first products to carry the label, starting in November, are the LIFEBOOK professional notebooks and ESPRIMO Mobile, ESPRIMO professional PCs, PCs and consumer line AMILO notebooks, workstations and thin client CELSIUS FUTRO. Fujitsu Siemens Computers is also defining the criteria for server and storage solutions.
The label Green IT uses a simple system at three levels, identified by one to three stars.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers has developed a detailed set of parameters for evaluating different elements of a product. The level of approval higher than three stars, indicating that the products exceed the current legal provisions relating to Green IT. The three-star label is in fact allocated only to those able to answer a list of requirements related to materials, recycling and energy consumption. For example, a business client to three stars should be produced only with materials free of halogen, must be accompanied by guides made with chlorine-free paper, in addition the product must be dismantled by one person using instruments commonly available and all with plastic components weighing more than 25g should be reported according to the standard ISO 11469:2000 for easier identification during disposal. In addition, for the three stars, food products must meet the energy efficiency levels of 80% for PCs and 85% for notebooks in operation with working loads of 20%, 50% and 80 %.
